“The 2021 Etna Bianco is mostly Carricante with smaller parts Catarratto, Grecanico and Insolia in the blend. The first vintage made back in 2005 was actually a field blend, and the wine became part of the Etna Bianco appellation in 2006. Acreage to Carricante has exploded on Etna these past 10 years. Back then, it represented just 3% of vineyard plantings, Marc De Grazia tells me. "Sicily is a seafood island, so it makes sense," he adds. Tenuta della Terre Nere由莊主Marc de Grazia成立於2000年左右,葡萄田散落於Etna火山北坡,海拔在六百至一千米,十塊田分屬四個地塊(Contrada),多為五十至一百歲的老藤。這個高度幾乎是全歐洲可見種植紅葡萄品種的極限,在黑色火山灰覆蓋之下包含了無數次火山噴發所累積的多樣土壤組成,加上充足的日照、高海拔極端日夜溫差以及海洋帶來的多風量,造就了精彩極致的老藤魅力。包括位於地理位置極佳的Calderara、Guardiola和Feudo di Mezzo等多個單一頂級葡萄園。其中精選約一公頃,100%種植於1870年、未經嫁接百年Nerello Mascalese的”Prephylloxera le Vigne di Don Peppino” ,品質之高直逼許多頂尖的Barolo和Bourgogne紅酒。酒評家Robert Parker曾讚美” Tenuta delle Terre Nere的紅酒佳釀,充滿如同Pinot Noir般的精彩新鮮度、複雜度與豐富的果味與草本芳香,令世人驚艷於Etna 產區風土之美”。
Marc de Grazia很早就注意到Etna產區。酒莊成立前他已多次造訪Etna,實驗性地試產少量未公開的酒款,才在2002年正式推出第一個年份。而他對市場的了解讓他自始便以單一園理念來推銷Etna,與市場上如日中天的布根地葡萄酒接軌,並在背標標示出「地中海的布根地」字樣以便行銷。
Tenuta della Terre Nere的葡萄田分屬於四個地塊,包括了Calderara Sottana、Guardiola、Santo Spirito與Feudo di Mezzo。約22公頃的葡萄園,種植以Nerello Mascalese為主,並有Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante, Grecanico, Inzolia等少部分的其他品種。衍生出一款粉紅酒、四款白酒,與六款紅酒。
