經常波爾多前、波爾多後，你可能覺得你已經很了解波爾多酒了，但如果有機會看過這本Berry Bros. & Rudd出版、Jane Anson撰寫、超過700頁的《Inside Bordeaux》，或許你會明白法國波爾多這個著名的產酒區，還有很多你未認識的漏網之魚，又豈只是5大酒莊那麼簡單呢？!

《Decanter》葡萄酒雜誌形容Jane Anson是提供最多資訊的波爾多酒專家，自2003年，她已在波爾多遊走，為這本書進行資料搜集。因此，對於一本波爾多酒書的基本要求，如歷史、葡萄、副酒、評級、買賣機制、酒莊介紹，當然不會缺乏，但法國酒經常講的Terroir，一定會花不少篇幅去介紹，讓你知道氣候、泥土，以致人為的釀酒技術，如何影響法國的佳釀。還有不得不提的年份評級，甚至常被忽略的波爾多白酒，其潛質也會被發掘出來。

記得2010年，當BB&R出版Jasper Morris的《Inside Burgundy》，很快便成為筆者經常翻閱的參考書，相信《Inside Bordeaux》的面世，又是另一本想深入了解著名產酒區的好幫手。

為了寫《Inside Bordeaux》這本書，Jane飲過許多葡萄酒，其中一枝她認為最優質的，就是Clos Manou的特別版Cuvee 1850。這枝酒大部分是用Merlot釀製，再加少許Cabernet Sauvignon，採用的是Phylloxera（蚜蟲）肆虐歐洲前的1,000棵葡萄樹。當年（2006年），莊主Francoise Dief是從退休的鄰居購入，鄰居曾提醒他，這些又老又不事生產的葡萄樹，你最終可能只想將它全部從葡萄園拔出來。但結果，卻成就了這不是每年釀製（2007、2009、2010、2011、2015及2018年份），產量少得可憐（2015年只有3桶）的佳釀。

或許因為Clos Manou從零開始，由車房酒起家，所以釀酒從來沒有包袱，可作多方面的嘗試；而Francoise相信就算在Medoc不著名的地段，一樣可以製造出好酒來。Jane在書中表示，Clos Manou是行內人才會識貨的佳釀，價錢仍然很合理，值得多些人認識。就好像她試過2014及2015年的Cuvee 1850，充滿生命力，含蓄而有酸度，凝煉可口。
