Borgogno No Name 2020

Nebbiolo “No Name” is a structured, intense and elegant red wine, born in Barolo area with aging for 36 months in big oak barrels. The aromatic profile is rich and complex, with scents fo red flowers, violets, aromatic herbs and red fruits. The taste is long, savory and fresh, with smooth tannins.

Giacomo Borgogno不是酒莊的創立人，開始的是他爸爸Bartolomeo，他接手家業的時候僅得十八歲。Giacomo的兒子Cesare對酒莊的貢獻亦舉足輕重，是他決定每年把一半生產的Barolo陳放酒窖最少二十年才推出市面。因為他認為傳統派Barolo必須經過歲月洗禮，可是基於經濟壓力，酒莊都會盡快把產品上市，令到消費者無法一睹酒王最漂亮的風彩。

呢支本來是Barolo，送檢時被指色澤太深，不獲准標示為Barolo。事實上，酒莊之前送檢的兩個樣本來自同一批次，卻又成功過關！新莊主為了向僵化制度示威，索性在酒標以手寫字體印著No Name，自行降級成為Langhe Nebbiolo DOC。豈料此酒一出短短三星期便告售罄，現在已經成為固定系列。

I really like 2019 Piedmont wines. It’s floral and earthy at once, with liquorice and a mix of dark cherry and red fruits and some baking spices. Deep and ferrous with plenty of fleshy firm tannin grip, fresh and perfumed, almond flavours in with the red and black fruits, and a stony tannin finish of excellent length. It’s a pretty serious offering, this one.

Attractive nose of red berries, lemons, mushrooms and cloves. Lightly bitter charcoal undertones. Medium-bodied with firm yet integrated tannins. Supple at the end.
