Thierry & Pascale Matrot Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Chalumeaux 2013
90-93 pts Stephen Tanzer (Sep 2014):
Bright, light yellow. Discreet, pure, high-pitched aromas of white flowers and hazelnut, with a slightly toasted quality that is not from oak. Then surprisingly generous and open- knit in the mouth, with sexy stone fruit flavors nicely framed by integrated acidity. Quite fine-grained and suave. Finishes seamless, sweet and long.
91 pts Allen Meadows, Burghound (Jun 2015):
Outstanding A slightly more elegant nose still has a hint of matchstick character to it though not so much as to detract from the cool and layered aromas of citrus and acacia blossom, spice and pain grillé scents. There is fine concentration to the focused and precise medium weight flavors that also exude a fine bead of minerality onto the clean and refreshing finish where a hint of bitter lemon arises. This too should drink well young if desired.
