Rapet's 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru opens in the glass with aromas of pear, citrus oil, white flowers, hazelnuts and wheat toast. On the palate, it's full bodied, satiny and textural, with real depth and concentration, its rich and fleshy core of fruit structured around ripe acids and chalky dry extract. In a more gourmand, exotic register, this has turned out very well.

Ripe yet cool and elegant aromas are composed by aromas of white flowers, essence of pear and citrus zest that is trimmed in subtle but not imperceptible wood toast. As one would reasonably expect, there is better volume to the sleekly muscular flavors that exhibit more obvious mineral influence on the powerful and very dry finish that is presently mildly tangy. I suspect that tanginess will gradually dissipate because as examples of Corton-Charlemagne typically go, this is not particularly structured.
