As a riper expression of Viognier, Chapoutier's 2018 Condrieu Invitare offers up floral aromas but also plenty of apricot and melon. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pleasantly silky texture but absolutely no hint of bitterness on the clean, lingering finish.

Viognier是一種芳香型的白葡萄,生長在溫和及炎熱的氣候,酸度低至中等。雖然有誘人的花香及飽滿質地,但種植方面比較麻煩,所以對比其他大眾化的白葡萄如Chardonnay,產量較少,種植不廣泛。麻煩在於,要掌握精準的採摘時間並適當修剪。葡萄過熟時,酒精會過高及苦味,導致葡萄酒失去平衡。未成熟的話,會有澀澀的草青味。而且發芽的時間早,容易受春季凍霜影響,產量不算旺盛。精緻的香氣,又很容易在釀造過程中蒸發。像個大小姐,很難服侍。

話雖如此,Viognier在法國隆河 ( Rhône Valley ) 法定酒區Condrieu獨當一面。位於北隆河北端,Cote Rotie酒區南面,Condrieu地區的內陸性氣候,主要花崗岩土壤,正好給Viognier生長。Condrieu葡萄園通常朝南,吸收陽光,從而增強了葡萄的成熟度。葡萄園通常在梯田上,受到土壤侵蝕和強風Mistral的挑戰。90-95%的Condrieu是乾身,但法例也允許甜身。這個小小的法定酒區 ( 197公頃 ) 圍繞一個獨立的AOC ( 3.5公頃 ) Chateau Gillet。

大多數Condrieu Viognier都是在不銹鋼和大型木桶發酵,但有些酒莊使用昂貴的小木桶來增強口感和風味。葡萄酒通常有Lees ageing 10-12個月;例如M. Chapoutier Invitare 2018 Viognier用了八個月Lees ageing,不但加添奶油香氣,而且令口感豐滿。這些白酒質量優秀,價格為高至頂級,是世界Viognier的典範。

今日介紹呢支Invitare的特徵是金黃色,帶有綠色反射。香氣濃郁,帶有一絲菠蘿,桃子和杏的香氣,散發著煙熏味和洋槐花的香氣。口感飽滿,結構持久,帶有香草味。
