"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from seven parcels of vines between 40 and 100 years old. There are blackberry, boysenberry and briar scents on the nose, which is quite dense and more backward than the regular Gevrey. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline, licorice-tinged entry and very fine weight in the mouth."

Henri Magnien酒莊是由Henri Magnien於1987年創立，不過根據布根地公會的資料顯示，Magnien家族迄今已經傳承12代，最早的歷史可以致追溯到1656年左右。在Henri之後由兒子François接手，直到2009年，酒莊開始由31歲的孫子Charles經營，並將酒莊的葡萄酒品質提升到了全新的高度。Charles Magnien也是布根地受到矚目的釀酒新星之一，酒風柔順，口感深邃，受到葡萄酒專業人士與酒迷的廣大好評。

酒莊位於Gevrey-Chambertin，占地6公頃，擁有許多非常好的葡萄園，包含Les Champeaux、Estournelles Saint-Jacques、Lavaux Saint-Jacques,、Les Cazetiers以及 Ruchottes-Chambertin，除此之外，根據著名酒評網《Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy》的資料顯示，Charles Magnien近期租下了位於Aloxe-Corton La Coutiere一級園的葡萄園，2019是在租賃合約下生產的第二個年份。

酒莊的葡萄園中擁有一個古老又特殊的Pinot Noir變異種─"Pinot Magnien"，是家族在1850年大量篩選且精心栽種所留下來的珍貴資產，Charles Magnien表示這種葡萄風味集中，酒莊如果有任何重新種植的葡萄，都會使用這個品種。

葡萄以手工採摘，在葡萄園、去梗前與去梗後共三次篩選，確保葡萄果實完整且狀態良好。葡萄冷浸約一星期，之後採乳酸發酵。對於陳釀使用的木桶，Charles也有自己的堅持，挑選來自Fontainbleu和Chatillons的木材，並與Chauvin木桶廠合作，他認為不同的森林的木材，對不同的酒款有著不同的影響，他也認為木材的類型與烘烤程度至關重要。
